ThinkNW Open
Taking over the Third Hole at the annual ThinkNW open, Plastic Sunshine created a pop-up experience that blended a golf pro shop with a convenience store, resulting in a small space that left a big impression.

Loving the Third Hole
Sponsored holes at golf tournaments are often an afterthought built around minimal effort and the ubiquitous pop-up tent. We decided to kick it up a notch for the ThinkNW Open, a tournament for the Northwest’s advertising industry.
We were assigned the third hole (also a par 3!) at the scenic Langdon Farms Golf Course in Wilsonville, Oregon. Based on that location, we embraced the power of threes, and created a fun, interactive experience at the tee box.
Starting with a simple idea built around how to best give away free stuff, our concept was one part pro shop, one part convenience store, and 100% immersive. Participants were invited to shop the store, paying with the stack of $3 bills they were given when they checked into the tournament. Then they were turned loose on the snacks, drinks, t-shirts, golf balls, tees, and random props to shop until they dropped. Everyone left with a bag full of goodies and good times.
The experience was rich, with extensive detailing, making shoppers slow down and fully experience the moment. Hailed as the funnest hole of the tournament, The Third Hole is now the standard bearer for the tournament moving forward.
