Widmer Campaign
Building on the launch of their new packaging, Widmer was looking for a fresh brand platform to introduce their beer to a new audience and also do what beer does best, bring people together.

Born out of the idea that great beer is best when shared with our closest friends, we created Lets Beer Friends as the call to action that would unite Widmer lovers and their friends. With the concept in hand. After extensive research and exploration, we tackled how the tagline would live graphically, landing on the now iconic Let’s Beer Friends lockup we all know and love.

Working with our friends at the Visual Group, we produced a multi-day photoshoot to capture all the campaign assets as well as key product visuals.

Nice to wheat you,
One of the first craft breweries in America, Widmer has been an Oregon standard for over 40 years. During that time, they became a national brand, won more awards than anyone can remember, and finally joined the Anheuser Busch family of beers. They even had a holiday named after them by the City of Portland. Not a bad run!
After the dust settled, Widmer needed a little modernizing. After a complete re-branding, including new packaging, they asked us to concept and build a new, different campaign that would introduce their refreshed brand to new drinkers as well as their loyal followers. Out of this need, we landed on “Let’s Beer Friends” as a rally cry for sharing great beer, and yeah, making friends with a beer. Because we learned that much like a true friend, Widmer is still great, even after 40 years.
Armed with a fresh CTA, we set out to introduce “Let’s Beer Friends” to the world. We shot a series of sharing scenarios and then built a ton of assets for OOH, digital, social, trade, and yes, even a radio spot. Can you really be friends with a beer? We think so, and this summer, we hope you will too.
